JA Social Innovation Challenge

This event brings together students, educators, and industry leaders to explore hands-on learning experiences, unlock new career pathways, and gain the skills needed to thrive in the evolving world of work. The JA Social Innovation Challenge is a national competition in which high school students are invited to submit their innovative ideas for improving and making an impact on their communities. The top 15 teams will compete as finalists at Future Bound by Junior Achievement.
Independent judges will determine team performance against the competition criteria as compared with other JA teams during each stage of the competition process. First, second, and third place honors will be awarded. Participants will also have the opportunity to compete for other prestigious awards at Future Bound. Details on these awards will be provided to finalists in mid-May.
Eligible Student Teams must have:
- Been enrolled in high school during the 2025-2026 school year.
- A minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 students
- Participated in JA Be Entrepreneurial, JA Company Program, JA Company Program Pop-Up, 3DE 11th Grade, or JA Entrepreneurial Mindset and follow the JA Learning Experience Implementation Standards for these learning experiences (including completing the full curriculum with the required minimum volunteer-lead contact hours).
Selection Process:
- All submitted materials must be the original work of JA students.
- Each JA Area may nominate up to 5 teams for consideration.
- Only JA Area staff may nominate student teams for consideration.
- For each nomination, by Friday, April 24, the JA Area must:
- Complete the online nomination form.
- Upload the team report in PDF format (must follow provided template).
- Upload a commercial or video showcasing the concept.
Competition Timeline:
- May 2: Finalist Nomination Deadline and Permission Forms Due
- May 5: Finalists Announced
- May 19-20: Mandatory Chaperone Orientation (two options)
- May 21: Participant Registration Deadline
- June 7 – 11: Future Bound by JA in Boston, MA
